I am to state that so far as extensions to shipyard in this country are concerned the Admiralty are empowered to make cash grants on the actual cost of authorised schemes, the amount of such grant being assessed in the form of a percentage on the estimated cost.

Before proceeding further in the matter, I am to enquire whether Ir. Secretary Long would be prepared to suggest to the Government of Hong Kong that a suitable grant towards the cost of the undertaking should be made from Colonial funds.

I am,

Six,

Your obedient Servant,

R.R. Scu

The Under Secretary of State,

Colonial Office,

Downing Street,
